John Furlong is an Aspiring Professional member of TCPPA specializing in nature and landscape photography. Here he shares his photography journey from film to digital.
"I started my photographic endeavors with film through a workshop"
Nature and landscape are my preferred areas of photography. I started my photographic endeavors with film through a workshop offered by a photography store. It provided guidance in taking photographs, and developing film and printing in their darkroom facilities. This was the hook for capturing images of what surrounds you and how you "see" them. From land photography I progressed to underwater photography using Nikonos cameras, strobes, and underwater light meters to capture a whole new world of colorful seascapes and creatures. During the last several years I have progressed to digital imaging, and moved along the learning curve of pixels and post-processing. Now I am exploring what paths I can use to do something with all of those photographs. In addition to being a TCPPA Aspiring Professional member, I am currently a member of the Treasure Coast Photography Center and its "From the Heart Juried Photography Exhibition" Committee.
